Città Aperta 2025 / Roma nell’anno del Giubileo is a story told through images, which finds space inside the Vittoriano (Altare della Patria), the heart of the eternal city, during the Jubilee Year of 2025. Conceived by the director of VIVE Edith Gabrielli and curated by Roberto Koch and Alessandra Mauro (Contrasto), the exhibition project is an invitation to see the reality of Rome and its pilgrims through the eyes of three photographers, Diana Bagnoli, Alex Majoli and Paolo Pellegrin.

Sala Zanardelli, the space in which the exhibition is hosted, is a challenging place: created inside the belly of the Vittoriano, it is divided into two overlapping rooms, narrow and long, surmounted by cross vaults.

Design’s task was not easy: first of all it was a question of lightening the dark, almost oppressive, hosting spaces, furthermore it was essential to prepare a flexible exhibition system, since the commissioned photos (their number of units and final dimensions) would be revealed only at the end. These two conditions marked the direction of the design choices, imposing, on the one hand, neutral colors and minimal shapes, on the other the creation of components that were able to optimize the exhibition surface, leaving the curators a high degree of flexibility.
