This installation presents a selection of nine photographs from Bas Princen’s Reservoir series (Hatje Cantz, 2011). The exhibition design is centered around a single continuous platform that guides visitors through a narrative where architecture, environment, and photography converge.

Constructed entirely from a single material, the installation is designed as one seamless object, integrating both display surfaces and seating elements into a unified form.

The concept was developed in response to the unique challenges of the exhibition space—Casa dell’Architettura in Rome—an elliptical room without rectilinear surfaces and rich in decorative elements. As a result, the shape of the installation functions as a spatial pause: a calm, contained environment within which visitors encounter a series of micro-settings. These intimate zones offer places to sit and ideal vantage points from which to view the photographs on display.
