The permanent museum of the Casa dei Cantautori will be housed in the former Abbey of San Giuliano in Genoa. The new museum reinterprets the original spaces to showcase a selection of Italy’s most influential songwriters—including Fabrizio De André, Luigi Tenco, Lucio Dalla, Paolo Conte, Franco Battiato, and Ivano Fossati, among others.

The project aims to create a balance between interactive media and more traditional artifacts such as manuscripts and memorabilia. The exhibition design integrates these diverse materials into a cohesive experience, guided by the curators’ selections.

The unique character of the site has played a central role in shaping the design, both aesthetically and materially. The furnishings are deliberately minimal—almost monastic in tone—easily removable, and crafted from natural, recyclable materials chosen primarily for their acoustic properties, as well as their visual simplicity.
